We can simplify your medicine by creating a custom prescription.

Compounding

Compounding is a specialty pharmacy practice in which a licensed pharmacist or other qualified healthcare professional customizes a medication, based on a physician or veterinarian’s prescription, to meet an individual patient need. Compounding allows patients to receive unique, unavailable, or more pleasant medications that would be otherwise unavailable. Compounded medications improve the health and quality of life for many unique patient populations.

Medication Compounding: Meeting Unique Medication Needs

  • Large drug companies mass-produce medications that don’t meet every individual need.
  • Often, medications are no longer produced by the manufacturer.
  • Some drugs are available in limited strengths and dosages.
  • Some patients are allergic to commonly used filters, dyes, binders, and other additives.
  • Veterinary meds need to be formulated into dosage forms that are palatable and the right strength for your pet.
  • Meds can often be compounded into vegetable-based capsules free of animal by-products for vegeterian and vegan patients.

For all these problems…..medication compounding is the solution. Medication compounding allows our pharmacists to customize the strength and dosage of a medication to meet your individual needs.

Compounding FAQ

Some of the questions that frequently arise about compounding concern the quality and stability of compounded products.  Our staff uses United States Pharmacopia guidelines, where available, for stability data and tests which have defined stability for numerous compounded medications.  More
